Successful project LIFE CoHaBit „Coastal Habitat Conservation in Nature Park “Piejūra”” informative seminar and project supervision group meeting

Seminars UzrunaOn 9 August 2017, at the Alternative Care Centre “Pīlādzis” of the Local Government of the Carnikava Municipality, an informative seminar and project supervision meeting of project LIFE CoHaBit „Coastal Habitat Conservation in Nature Park “Piejūra”” took place in a positive atmosphere. The seminar was opened by the Chairperson of the Local Government of the Carnikava Municipality Daiga Jurēvica.
Gundega Ulme, the head project manager of the leading partner of the LIFE CoHaBit project, introduced the participants of the seminar with the aims and objectives of project LIFE CoHaBit „Coastal Habitat Conservation in Nature Park “Piejūra””, as well as the project’s communications strategy.

 

The seminar was then continued with a presentation by Brigita Laime, an expert in biotopes of the Association “Baltic Coasts”, on the activities planned for preserving and restoring the biotopes.
At the end of the informative seminar, the experience and benefits of habitat management measures of foreign LIFE projects were reviewed, which were presented by Agnese Jeņina, the project manager of the Association “Baltic Coasts”.
On the second part of the day, a supervision group meeting of the LIFE CoHaBit project was held, during which the progress of the project was discussed, as well as the further activities of the project and the communication strategy of the supervision group.
The following parties took part in the supervision group meeting – senior Līga Baumane, the senior expert of the Administration of the Latvian Environmental Protection Fund LIFE Support Department; Jānis Ģērmanis, the head of LLC “Riga Forests” Forestry Department, Daiga Zute, the senior referent of the Ministry of Agriculture Forestry Department; Vilmārs Katkovskis, the head of Western Vidzeme Forestry Management Planning Unit of JSC “Latvia’s State Forests”; Vilis Avotiņš, the head of the Freeport of Riga Environment Department; Lauris Bernāns, the deputy director of the Municipal Agency Carnikavas Komunālserviss; Dace Bērziņa, the senior specialist of the Riga City Council Housing and Environment Department Nature and Planting Division; Gunita Dzene, chairperson of the board of the Association “Kalngalieši”; Lauma Krišāne, the senior expert of the Nature Conservation Agency Pierīga Regional Administration; Laura Seile, senior referent of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development Department of Protected Areas; as well as all of the project partners.
