Weather conditions do not prevent those interested from going on expeditions in the lagoons of Daugavgrīva

IMG 335In order to draw attention of the society to the less-known nature values of Natura Park “Piejūra”, as well as to involve the population in the exploration of the uniqueness and value of Nature Park “Piejūra”, on 25 October an expedition was organized in the lagoons of Daugavgrīva, guided by Brigita Laime, an expert in biotopes.

During the expedition, its participants were introduced to one of the greatest values of Latvia and Nature Park “Piejūra” – the extraordinary lagoons of Daugavgrīva!

Participation in the expedition was free-of-charge, and, despite the weather conditions, the various people interested took part in the expedition - representatives of the coastal municipalities and representatives of the environment sector, as well as organizers of the local associations and nature expeditions.

Photos gallery of the expeditions is available here:

The expedition is organized within the framework of the European Commission LIFE Programme project „LIFE CoHaBit – Coastal habitat conservation in Nature Park “Piejūra”” (LIFE15 NAT/LV/000900). The project is being implemented by the Local Government of the Carnikava Municipality, in cooperation with the Nature Conservation Agency, the Riga City Council City Development Department and the Association “Baltic Coasts”.
